I remember the first time I met Lindsey. We were visiting Christ Community Church and I was standing behind her during the entire service admiring her long curly hair. Trying to focus on the sermon but let’s be honest, we all get a little distracted sometimes. Especially when we are visiting a church. Looking around… checking out everyone and trying to get a feel for it. At the end of the service she joyfully introduced herself and made it a point to get to know us and help plug us in. That summer we studied the book Restless by Jennie Allen (highly recommend!). God knew exactly what He was doing by placing us in each others lives during this season. We were able to share so much with each other, pray together, cry together and laugh together. God blessed me with an incredible friend in a new town. Mitchell and I also attended the Hughe’s community group on Sunday nights. The Hughes’ family is one of a kind. I mean that with every ounce of me. I’ve never met a family more generous and hospitable. From the moment we walked in the door they were serving us. Josh was always cooking something delicious and Lindsey never failed to ask how we were, how our week was, how she could pray for us. And Rilan.. oh Rilan… this kid has the cutest laugh. Truth be told, I only went to community group to see him ;)! jk.. but not really. We liked to play lift Rilan in the air as many times as possible and he would say “again” and “again” :)!
The Hughe’s love to serve anyone and everyone – -their neighbors, friends and coworkers. They have truly been a blessing to our lives and we are so thankful to know them. They showed us what it looks like to serve your neighbor and love them well. Lindsey, Josh and Rilan (along with the Cornwell’s!) were there for us all the way to shutting the Uhaul door before our move to Raleigh, NC. Athens, GA was so good to us. It was our community that made that place so great and truly feel like home.
Lindsey is expecting a sweet baby boy, Judah Paul Hughes, this August. We are so excited to meet him!! Just before we moved to Raleigh I had the pleasure and honor of capturing this moment for the Hughe’s family. We met at the Chase Street Warehouses where a REAL train goes through every hour or so. Rilan LOVES trains!! This worked to my advantage so graciously because as Rilan gazed at the train I was able to capture that sweet face with the sun behind him. One point for me, five points for Rilan ;)! Did I mention the Hughe’s agreed to meet for a SUNRISE session? Just another reason they are so amazing! To all my potential families and couples — this is what sunrise light looks like. It is so worth getting up early for!
Lindsey, Josh and Rilan – we love you each dearly and are forever grateful for your love, generosity and hospitality!
