Jaclyn and Matt

I’m so excited to share a fun personal project with you all today! Since moving to Raleigh I have met some of the kindest and most generous photographers and friends. I am incredibly thankful for their support and hospitality towards me. One of those sweet friends is Nicole from Three Little Birds Studio. The moment I met her we hit it off chatting about all things Anthropologie, home decor, fashion and of course photography. When she told me she was film photographer I was so excited because this is something I’ve always loved and been interested in. I think it’s such a fascinating perspective on photography. Something I am in no way an expert on but something I always desired to get my hands on and at least play around with. Nicole graciously gave her time to mentor me one evening and let me use her Contax 645 during a shoot with my dear friends, Jaclyn and Matt. I instantly fell in love with film. It gave me a whole new perspective and thought process for each shot, each frame. I slowed down A LOT. Every click is like a cash register ringing up a sum total for the end of your shoot. I only shot one roll of film and I still used my beloved Canon5d mark iii, of course. This was such a fun project and I am excited to keep learning more. I’m not sure where my journey with film is going, I just know I enjoy working with film and desire to keep learning! I also know that my handy mark iii is my baby and it will never leave my side for weddings… well, I guess I should never say never. I mean, the mark iv is on the horizon! đŸ˜‰

Now, Jaclyn and Taylor. These two are loving, fun spirited and beautiful friends of ours in Raleigh. We were introduced to them via our small group at the Summit Church. I have so loved getting to know them over the last few months and doing life with them is nothing short of a blessing. I’m so thankful for their willingness to model for me and their patience as I learned something new. I can’t wait to continue growing in Christ with them and to see where the Lord grows and challenges them over the next year! We love you, Taylortwosome!

And now… a few of my favorite, first ever, film scans…. !! Y’all I seriously re-focused like 10 times before taking a shot. Poor Jaclyn and Matt, they got really comfortable holding the same pose for what felt like an eternity. Thanks friends!! Y’all were the best models for this project.
