I remember the first time I talked to Kayla on the phone. She was incredibly kind and I could hear the pure joy in her voice! We had just welcomed our baby boy into the world and needless to say – I was a little sleep deprived. I remember trying to schedule phone chats based off his feeding times. Well, about 20 minutes into our chat I could hear him screaming and Mitchell was trying so hard to soothe him for just a little bit longer. Haddon wasn’t having it – he wanted Mama! I hated to rush but I had too and Kayla was so sweet and understanding! I left the conversation thinking – why would this sweet couple book this crazy new Mama who had to rush off the phone – what a horrible first impression, Amber – jeez!! Part hormones I guess ;). The next day Kayla emailed and wanted to book! Thank you Jesus!! I just knew from the little time we chatted that Kayla and David would be a dream couple to work with and I was thrilled they trusted me with such a special season. We had a lot in common and even went to the same church – where they held their ceremony and reception!
Fast forward to their wedding day and they both stole my heart all over again! Kayla and David are two of the most remarkable, loving and joyful people I’ve ever met. The love they share for one another, their friends and family is absolutely centered on the love they have been given. I arrived to Kayla’s house to find her and her closest friends getting ready in her bathroom – which included lots of dancing and singing! Kayla had a separate room all cleared for me to style and photograph her details (a prepared bride ;))!!
Some of my favorite moments from their wedding day…
Kayla putting her dress on. Her Mother slowly zipped her dress and perfected the lace sleeves while glowing with joy for her daughter. They shared hugs and kisses and her Mom then asked to pray for Kayla. It was such a beautiful and intimate moment. Hearing a Mother’s praise that The Lord brought her daughter, David, the man they had prayed for – her soon to be husband and caregiver – just incredible!
The First Look. David was in awe of his beautiful Bride. Twirling her and then I heard these words as he looked at her ring, “the best money I’ve ever spent.” What a guy! I love these two!!
The ceremony. Kayla and David were married by their Lifegroup leader and he did a remarkable job reminding everyone what marriage represents. Reminding us what the gospel is and how we apply that to our marriage whether newly married or celebrating 50 + years!
Kayla’s Dad’s speech. It was both sentimental and humorous. My favorite part was watching him tear up as he spoke about Kayla receiving her second greatest gift today. The first being her salvation and now marriage to David.
The evening ended with cake cutting and lots of dancing! Kayla is one of 5 brothers and sisters. She has 3 brothers that have clearly impacted her life and a sister who had her baby the morning of Kayla’s wedding! I know she was greatly missed but also celebrating from afar with her baby cuddles!!
